Liberia, West Africa, a country devastated by a long-running civil war (1989–2004), has been in Children of the Nations peripheral vision for nearly five years. Liberia is not only neighbor to Sierra Leone, where COTN first launched ministry in 1995 (responding to the plight of Liberian children living in refugee camps in Sierra Leone), it is also home to Chris Clark, Children of the Nations (COTN) founder and international president, who spent most of his adolescent years there—a child of missionary parents. Chris Clark and COTN partner Bruce Donoho just recently returned froma two-week visit to Liberia where they performed a feasibility study—looking into the needs of orphans and destitute children, exploring options for launching ministry there, and meeting with government officials.
