A New Life Begins for 74 Ugandan Children

Stability is something new to these children. School, daily meals, a bed for sleeping and clean clothes seemed out of reach to most. Some have lost family members to the long-standing rebel wars, some to sickness and some to other reasons. All have had no positive family support in a long time, and many were scared.

These children—nine girls and fifteen boys, ages three to twelve years—now have the opportunity for a family and nurturing lifestyle at the Uganda Children’s Village in Lira.

Less than three months ago, Reverend James Okalo Ekwang, COTN–Uganda Country Director, and his staff welcomed twenty-four orphaned children into the Children of the Nations (COTN) family and began providing a safe haven called home. “The children are still adapting to their new environment and having people around that love them,” said Brandon Beard, Life Groups Pastor at Real Life Church in Valencia, California, who just returned from Uganda with his Venture Team in June.
